It's official...I'm weird!

Blogger-buddy and fellow student MotoMom filled out this meme. No, she didn't tag me.

But I stole it anyway. :P

Hers is a "Christmas Version". Don't know if I can stick with that or not, but I'll try...

Hmmmm...

7 Weird Things
1. We do a "Birthday Cake for Jesus". OK, that is IF I remember to buy the mix. Well, this year, I did buy the mix. Is it alright if I got "Devil's Food" for Jesus' birthday cake?
2. I don't like "It's a Wonderful Life". I don't know, just something too "dark" about it. My mother thinks I'm weird because of this.
3. I have also never seen the "Nightmare Before Christmas". Don't faint.
4. I could watch "White Christmas" twice a day for the entire month of December and never get tired of it. Sometimes I do. And sometimes, I even watch it in **gasp** May and July. And August and April and...
5. The best Christmas gift I ever got was a Super Nintendo. SNES. Remember those? I still have it!
6. I sometimes forget to open my presents on Christmas morning. I get so in to watching the kids and placing batteries and cleaning up wrapping paper...till one of the kids says "MOM!"
7. All I want for Christmas this year is my own car that runs. (sing to the tune of "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"). I know it sounds petty, but having to ask someones' permission to use the car is so, I don't know, IRRITATING. I know I should be grateful. I keep telling myself that.

Am I weird? I think so. I could keep going if you need more proof...

Tag! yer it!

I'm a LILY

This is What Kind Of Flower You Are ...
You Are a Lily

"Your artistic expression tends to show up in flamboyant bursts. When you are feeling creative, it consumes your every thought and action. But just as quickly as the muse shows up, it leaves you and you are back to your relatively normal self."

Hmmm, "relatively normal self". I think they know me a little TOO well!

For a link to see what kind of FLOWER you are (quiz, you know) check my side bar over at the right.

Parenting Styles quiz

Found this over at Donetta's.
Somehow I knew she would be that kind of mother. She's amazing!

Thought I would go take The Test and see how I rate. It's short and relatively painless.

Your type is: ISFJ —The “Tender Loving Care” Mother

  • Gentle and kind, the ISFJ mother provides her children with generous amounts of tenderness, affection, and the comfort of daily routine. Her aim is to “be there” for her children, physically and emotionally. She is sensitive to their feelings, offering closeness, understanding, and quiet support.
  • Loyal and devoted, the ISFJ mother has a strong sense of duty and consistently puts her children’s needs first. She delights in taking care of the little things that matter to a child, making each one feel loved and special.
  • To provide her family with security and warmth, the ISFJ mother tends to the practical and domestic, aiming for a smooth-running household and an attractive home. She also observes and conveys the value and importance of family traditions.

OK, not so much the last one. My little old double-wide is yuck.

But I DREAM about decorating and making it look nice. Maybe like Donetta's Home. Does that count?

ME - like you don't know enough already!

Courtesy of the same Awesome Lady I got this meme from...

All about the Wonderful Amazing....ME!

How tall are you barefoot? 5 ft 11 in.
Have you ever flown first-class? No, in fact, I've only flown one commercial round trip flight ever. Weird, I know! And it DEFINITELY wasn't first class. My knee impressions are probably STILL embedded in the back of that plane seat. I've flown once on a small 6 passenger plane and one quick helicopter ride. I would LOVE to fly in first class. Just like the movies!
One of your favorite books when you were a child?Alexander and the Magic Mouse.
A good restaurant in your city? Hmmm, let me see. That's a tough one because my little backwoods town only has 2! Not counting the mini mart and the drive through coffee hut. So I guess I'll pick The Fare. Decent down-home cookin'!
What is your favorite small appliance? My bread machine. Yummmm!
One person who never fails to make you laugh? #4; The child is pure slapstick.
What was the first music that you ever bought? An Air Supply record. YEP! Vinyl.
Do you do push-ups? I don't think I could.
What was one of your favorite games as a child? Theatre. My sisters and I would create a stage on the bottom bunk and make up plays to perform for our parents.
When you were twelve years old, what did you want to be when you grew up? A marine biologist.
Your favorite Soup of the Day? Cream of Potato with bacon OR Split Pea.
Have you ever met someone famous? When I was a dinner cook, I made Chicken Fried Steak for Robert Conrad. And my family was friends with Ramblin' Rod Anders. So I saw him several times.
Date of Birth? October 22.
From what news source do you receive the bulk of your news? Channel 12.
Current worry? That my financial aid for school won't come in. I shouldn't worry! If it doesn't work out, then I will know God has other plans. But it's just that I want it SOOOOoo much!
Current hate? Naughty word around our house. I really don't like bill collectors.
Favorite place to be? on the right side of my queen bed under my black sheet, comforter and electric blankie. I am not even halfway kidding! I am so tired I can hardly stay awake.
Least favorite place to be? The dentist chair. (**GOOD answer, MotoMom!!)
Do you consider yourself well organized? Yes, fairly. It depends on the project but yes, in general.
Do you believe in an afterlife? MOST definitely.
Where do you think you will be in 10 years? I know where I HOPE I will be. I hope I am catching a baby as he enters the world.
Do you burn or tan? Depends. If I am out for a long time, I'll FRY. But if I'm just out for repeated short bursts, I'll get brown. Although never REAL brown, jut a light dusting.
Are you more optimistic or pessimistic about the future? I am optimistic for myself. I believe there are some great things for my future. However, I am fairly pessimistic looking toward the view of the world - It's going to heck in a handbasket as far as morals and family values.
What did you fear was going to get you at night as a kid? This may sound dumb to you, but when you are raised in a valley and you learn about volcanoes in school...Ummm, YAH! Especially those pictures of Pompeii or watching movies about it. I could just picture the lava rolling out of the top of one of those hills and oozing down over us. Would I be able to get away in time?
What's in your pockets right now? A dum-dum wrapper.
Last thing that made you laugh? My co-worker.
Worst injury you've ever had? Haven't ever had any bad physical ones. Got a hole in my leg one time from the window crank when I ran a stop sign and got t-boned. I rolled a car one time, but only bruised my leg. Fell out of a tree, but only knocked the wind out of me. Jammed my wrist one time, but never broke it. I could go on and on... The worst injuries I've had have been emotional. They hurt far more and take longer to heal.
How many TVs do you own? 4
Best compliment received? "You're kids are SO smart...well-behaved...beautiful, etc." If I'm doing a good job with them, that's what's important. Oh, wait, there was that one time in our little local market where the oriental man that owns it said "WOW! You look much younger since you lost weight! Twenty, maybe!" I almost kissed him. I love you, Mr. Li!!
What leaves you speechless? When people give me something special. I have a hard time accepting generosity. This may seem dumb, but one time I was out of $$ till payday and MG was down visiting. He asked if I had stopped smoking (I hadn't...yet) and I told him no, that I just couldn't afford cigarettes. Later he stopped at a 7-11 to get a pop and he came out of the store with a bag. When he plopped it in my lap, it held a bottle of water (which I NEED to drink more of!), a bag of M&M's (chocolate!) and two packs of smokes. Such little things and definitely NOT good for me. But it showed that he CARED; That he wanted me to be HAPPY. I couldn't even say thank you...I just sat there and bawled. He thought he did something wrong, poor baby. (**note - Don't worry. I quit smoking in October last year)
What is your favorite book? This is not what you expect...I like true crime stories. Ann Rule is one of my favorite authors. Robert Fulghum ("All I Ever Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten") is another of my favorites.
Last meal you cooked for the opposite sex? Last night, I made him stuffed hamburgers.
What were you doing at 12 midnight last night? Sleeping, most definitely.

I can't believe this is my FOURTH post today. Sundays are SOOooooo Slow!

The "I'm Bored" 30 question quiz

QUIZ TIME! Yep, it's Saturday morning and I'm bored.
Courtesy of a MySpace friend...

1) Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours? My Guy...but the rope would have to be at least 4 feet long. So I could be outside the bathroom...you know. That's probably TMI, but it would be a REQUIREMENT!
2) Who do you blame for your mood today? No blaming. You choose your own mood. For instance, I can choose NOT to kill my children when I discover three rolls of toilet paper unrolled all over the living room floor because they were playing "Snow Day".
3) Have you ever seen a dead body? Yes. If you've ever been to a funeral, you've probably seen one. Plus, I used to work in a hospital ER, so THAT kinda necessitates a dead body sighting. I've witnessed a suicide. I've also seen a few people who WISHED they were dead when I worked on an ambulance crew.
OK...Time to change the subject...
4) What should we do w/ stupid people? Leave them alone! We all have our "moments"...I've been the one turning from the wrong lane at least once in my life. And I might have been that lady that called you three times the other night because I SWEAR that's the number the doctor's office wrote down for me!
5) How long do you think you will live? OH, my, is that a loaded question or what?! I want to live to be about 85...any older than that and you run the risk of becoming a burden to your children and running up large medical bills. How long do I THINK I will live? Well, MG says I drive like a maniac...so it's actually very hard to tell.
6) What was the first thing you did this morning? Staggered out of bed to get cold medicine for MG and #2 who were coughing up a lung or two.
7) The color of carpet in your bedroom? Brown...just like the living room and the other bedrooms.
9) Last person you went out to dinner with? MG. Prime rib and all-you-can-eat shrimp...which for me is NONE...cuz seafood makes me yak. And "all-I-can-eat" is about 8 oz! But MG had a hoggin'-down good time. That's what counts!
10) Are you spoiled? Yes, I think so. At this point in my life, I have everything I could ever need. God has been amazingly good to me.
11) Do you drink lots of water? Ummm, no. Don't tell my doctor - or MG for that matter! Or my mother.
12) What toothpaste do you use? Whatever is on sale. I try to get "sensitive" cuz mine are DEFINITELY sensitive, but right now I think I have AIM whitening. It's not bad.
13) How do you vent your anger? Go in my room and sit on my bed and pout, Drive fast, slam a door, go out to the garage and primal yell. Juvenile, I know, but it's better than choking somebody...
14) The last compliment you received? MG told me I was sexy when I hadn't even brushed my hair yet yesterday morning. I told him he was full of it...
15) What are you doing this weekend? Working and trying to spend some time with my kids. The weatherman said the weather is supposed to be halfway decent today.
16) When was the last time you threw up? Wednesday night. I ate one bite too much...
17) **I revised this question** Is your best friend crazy? She kinda has to be to be MY best friend, doesn't she?
18) What theme does your room have? THEME? Ummm, Early 20th century CONSTRUCTION!?! I'd like to have my window frames painted burgundy and a grapevine around the walls at the top. I even have the paint! I'd also like to have the spackle and paint splatters removed from the wood trim...but until I get my hiney up the ladder and do it, or get rich and hire someone it ain't gonna happen.
19) When was the last time you were at a party? My girls' birthday party last June...
20) Are you a mama's child or a daddy's child? Love them both more than words can say. Mom is one of my best friends and Dad is my primary "wise counselor".
21) Would you ever join the military? If they took overweight women over 40, sure!
22) The last website you visited? Motherwise Midwifery
23) Who was the last person you took a picture with? MG...but he won't let me show anyone. He REALLY doesn't like having his picture taken.
24) Did you sleep well last night? Since I started my "happy pills", I sleep like a ROCK. But got woke up early by coughing people...I had 20 more minutes till the alarm went off. Aaargh!
25) Last person you went to the movies with? My kids. First time I've ever taken them to the movies...because I've never fit in the theater seats before! It was a blast and we jabbered about it all the way home. Someone gave us free tickets...I couldn't believe how spendy it was to see a MOVIE! WOW!
26) What did you do/will you do for your birthday this year? Probably go out with MG or just hang out at home. I'd like to go do something wild and crazy, but can't think of anything right now. Anybody got any ideas?
27) Number of layers on your bed? Sheet, comforter and my electric blankie. So 3...
28) Is anything alive in your room? A spider or two (DON'T TELL MG!) and maybe a flea from the rotten cat...
29) Today, would you rather go back a week or go forward a week? Forward, I think. So everyone in the family would be over this Ewwie cold virus!
30) What are you looking forward to right now? Being done with this quiz? No, seriously, probably GOING HOME! Stretch out, watch TV, hug some kids...Ahhhh, that's the life! :D

Christmas quiz

HEY, A Christmas quiz! Right up my alley! And it's short...only 20 questions.
Feel free to copy it if you wanna share with your friends, too.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate...preferrably made with COFFEE.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa only loads up the stockings at my house. Presents all come from someone. Usually. The exception was last year when so many community organizations came together to give my kids a decent Holiday that "Santa" gave them ALL their gifts.

3. Colored lights on tree/house? Always lights on the tree. Depends on which string of lights I can get to work as to whether or not they are colored. :D As for lights on the house...I always have good intentions, but never seem to get it done.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Yes. Do I use it? NOPE

5. When do you put your decorations up? I usually restrain myself until the first week of December.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? GreenBean Casserole with the onion crunchy things on top. And Potato salad.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Going to my Aunt's for Christmas Eve to open presents and pig out.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? What truth? I still believe in Santa. See #2.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? As a kid, we opened ALL our presents on Christmas Eve. Now I do Christmas Eve with my side of the family and my kids open their presents on Christmas morning.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I usually start out with a theme. I have two that I have supplies for (Purple/silver and Tartan/white) HOWEVER, but the second week in December, the kids have brought home so many hand-made-at-school ornaments that the original decorations are usually buried. It's OK with me, though. They'll only do that for a few more years.

12. Can you ice skate? Barely. I can Ice FALL really well, though. Haven't done either in about 20 years.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? No. Isn't that sad? It's just that the receiving isn't the big thing about Christmas. I wouldn't care if the only gift I got was hugs and kisses from those I love.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Watching my children and being with my family.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? My grandmother used to make Almond Roca from SCRATCH! WOW. And her Peanut Blossom cookes (with the Hershey's kisses in the middle!)

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas Bazaars!

17. What tops your tree? Depends on what the kids want. We have a star and an angel. We vote.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Isn't the entire season about giving? Unless your about 5, I guess.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Snow by Bing and Danny on "White Christmas"

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? I like the mint ones as long as they are little.

TAG!

Tagged on Fives...

Heather Tagged Me...

If I had five minutes to myself:
1. I'd lay my head back on this chair and fall asleep. (just for five minutes...I swear!)
2. I would go look and see if LawDog posted anything new.
3. I'd call all my kids over and hug them for a minute apiece.
4. I would kiss MG over and over and then lay my cheek against his. (I guess this doesn't qualify as being "by myself"...but it works for me)
5. In reality, I would probably start a load of laundry, pick up the kids' bathroom, Windex the TV screen, put the dishes in the dishwasher and get my #4 a glass of juice.

If I had $5 to spend:
1. Without guilt? Hmmm, I might throw it in a slot machine and see what happens...
2. Buy a couple of state lottery scratchoff tickets. (WOW, I sound like a gambling addict! I NEVER do either one or two...because I feel guilty blowing the money. I Swear!)
3. Chocolate...lots and lots of chocolate.
4. Triple Mocha with the Gosh That's Good SF chocolate.
5. I will NOT buy a pack of cigarettes...I will NOT buy a pack of cigarettes...I will NOT buy a pack of cigarettes. (can you tell I'm trying to quit smoking ?)

Five Items I’d love to get rid of:
1. piles of papers I have to sort through.
2. my drift of mending.
3. Guilt.
4. My extra skin.
5. Cancer. I don't want to lose anymore friends or family members to it. And I REALLY don't want it to come visit me!

Five Items I wouldn’t part with:
1. My cell phone
2. My Guy
3. My kiddos
4. COFFEE! Any coffee...gimme coffee, coffee, coffee!
5. My car...even if it is tough to fit all of us in it, I can't imagine not having it. God bless you, A.C.!!

Five Words or Phrases I’d love to hear;
1. Congratulations! You've won the lottery! Here's your 45 million dollars!
2. The last 18 months of your life have been a test. This was only a test. Your life will return to normal shortly.
3. I love you, Mommy!
4. Everything is OK, Baby. I'll stay right here and hold you while you sleep.
5. Your jacuzzi is ready and the candles are lit. I'll knock on the door in 3 hours to let you know dinner is ready.

If you wanna cut and paste into your own blog, I would love to read your answers! If you don't, that's fine, too. Just enjoy reading mine and have an awesome day. :D JD
