God is in Control - Psalm 11

Psalm 11
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David
.
1 In the LORD I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?
2 For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?
4 The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.
5 The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
6 Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.
You know, sometimes I look at a passage of Scripture and think "I have NO idea what most of that means"! I can readily admit that. I just looked at this chapter and wondered "am I that dense? Why can't I understand what God is trying to say to me here?"
That's when I do one of two things...
  • leave it in His hands for the time being. Maybe I'm not meant to understand it just now. OR
  • Pray and then try again.

That definitely happened to me this week. I wanted to have something "deep and philosophical" to post. I read over it several times and just decided to rest with this one thought that overrode everything else...

God is in Control. He is my sanctuary and my refuge. I'm just gonna run and cower behind Him when things get too hard, when I don't know what to do, when it hurts so badly that I can't stand it. He is there to lean on; He is there to hold me.

I praise Him everyday for this. I don't know how I could have survived this life without Him. If that makes me weak or if you think I am using my Lord as a crutch, then so be it. I'm fine with that. Isn't that the way it's SUPPOSED to be?

I agree -- that's the way it is supposed to be -- that we lean on Him. And he will never fail us.

I always use Him as a crutch! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! All I have to say is AMEN!!! Mine's up late, but it's up. :)
